Leave an anonymous note on a nearby place (must)

For when you want to say something about a particular shop or place. A must is a short note attached to a place on the map. Unlike a mur it doesn’t expire, and each person can leave one per place. must is available from version 1.3.0. It’s free, with no difference for Premium.

Open a place

  1. Tap a shop icon on the map, or a star (a place that already has musts), to open its place card. You can also open it from a must row in the Near list.
  2. The card shows the place’s name, its category, the number of musts and the musts themselves. Sort them by “Most liked” or “Newest”.

Place data comes from Overture Maps. Places can’t be looked up from the search screen.

Write a must

  1. On the card, tap “Write the first must” (if nobody has written one yet) or “Write a must”.
  2. Type in the “A must about this place” box, up to 140 characters.
  3. Tap “Leave it”.

You get one must per place. To change it, use “Edit my must” (edited musts are labelled “Edited”). Musts stay until you delete them, and they don’t take replies.

The “On site” label

If you’re within 150 m of the place and your device shares your precise location, the app shows “Will be marked as on site” and your must gets an “On site” label. The location used for this check is not stored. You can still write from farther away or with approximate location — the must just won’t get the label.

How stars appear

Places with at least one must show up as stars on the map, in three sizes by the number of musts (1–4, 5–19, 20 or more). Zoomed in (zoom 15 and closer), every place with a must is a star; a little farther out, only places with 5 or more. Zoom out further and you’ll see count badges instead.

Report a closed or wrong place

From the card’s “…” menu choose “Report this place”, then “It has closed”, “Not a real place”, “Duplicate” or “Other”. When three different people report a closure and at least one of them sends it from near the place (within 150 m), the card shows “This place may be closed”. Once we confirm it, the place is marked “Closed” (its musts stay).

If you run the shop or facility, “…” › “For shops and facilities” opens our contact page for removal or correction requests.
