Let people know about a spot with a mark

For when you want people to know about a place for a while. A mark is a named spot you plant where you are. It stays on the map, and you can add a notice and a photo. With murmur Premium you can plant one mark. On the map, marks appear as orange flags.

Plant a mark (on the spot only)

  1. Tap “Murmur” and switch to “mark” at the top. The app starts checking that you’re really there as soon as it opens (“Checking your location…” → “Location confirmed”). Precise location access is required.
  2. Enter a name, up to 20 characters.
  3. If you have news, add an optional notice, up to 140 characters (“What’s happening here today?”).
  4. Choose a location shift — the same nine settings as a mur, from 0 m to 1 km. For marks the default is 0 m.
  5. Optionally add one photo.
  6. Tap “Plant”.

Notices

A notice is shown for 30 days after you write it. You’ll get a reminder 3 days before it disappears, and rewriting it shows it for another 30 days. You can rewrite a notice from anywhere. Marks with a notice can be seen from farther out on the map; marks without one appear when you zoom in.

Pin a mark onto a must place

If there’s a must place within 30 m of your mark, you can choose it as the place to pin onto (up to 5 nearby places, closest first; “Don’t pin” is the default). Pinned marks appear at the place’s position regardless of the location shift, and show at the top of the place card. Each place can have only one pinned mark — first come, first served.

If the place isn’t in must yet, use “…” › “Ask to add this place to must” on your mark to ask us to add it.

Move, pause or delete

You can’t move a mark once it’s planted. To use a different spot, delete it and plant it again there. The name, notice, location shift, photo and pinned place can be changed later. Pause, resume or delete it from “My mark” in Settings.

If your Premium subscription ends, your mark is hidden; resume within 30 days and it comes back as it was.
