About
Each year from November 14 to 16, a sacred kagura dance designated a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property moves from shrine to shrine in the mountainous Hongawa area of Ino Town. It is danced at Omori Hachimangu on November 14, at Nagasawa Shiraga Shrine on the 15th and at Erimon Shiraga Shrine on the 16th, among other local shrines. Under the old feudal domain, the former Hongawa Village and some hamlets of present-day Okawa Village formed a district known as Hongawa-go, and this kagura belonged to its winter festivals. If you plan to go, check which shrine hosts which day before heading into the hills.
