About
Around Ohama Beach in Minami, this summer festival is all about sea turtles. It begins with the Sea Turtle Thanksgiving, a prayer that the turtles will come ashore and lay their eggs. Next comes the Sea Turtle Festival itself, with food stalls and stage shows bringing the beachfront to life. At night a fireworks display fills the sky above the town to finish the day. The nearest station is Hiwasa on the JR Mugi Line, and the drive from Tokushima City is about 70 minutes. Inquiries go to the Minami Town industry promotion section (sea turtle festival committee).
