About

Every summer, Hakui holds this much-loved festival on a street set up as a venue just outside the west exit of Hakui Station, with something going on all day. The main attraction is a dancing parade that moves down the street to the Hamaguri Ondo, a clam-themed folk song handed down in the area, and travellers are welcome to step in and dance along. There are also performances on stage, and evening stalls run by the local chamber of commerce and youth groups. As the venue is just a few steps from the station, it is easy to drop by if you are travelling by train. Enquiries go to the Hakui Matsuri executive committee.
