About

This summer festival in the Tatsunokuchi area of Nomi packs the afternoon and evening with events. The headline is the Jonkara dance contest, where teams compete with their routines. There are also stage shows, a haunted house and fireworks, plus glowing balloon lanterns floated up into the night sky. The festival is held around the main Nomi City Hall building, and the city's Nomi Bus community buses are free on the day. It began as the Yakushi festival held around Shufukuji Temple; in 1982 it moved to the Tatsunokuchi Onsen plaza to liven up the hot spring town, and that year is counted as the first Tatsunokuchi Festival.
