About

Nonoichi's signature midsummer festival is built around the Nonoichi Jonkara-bushi, a song that has been sung for Bon dancing here for generations and is designated a folk cultural property by the city. As it plays, local people form one great circle and dance together. The festival takes place at Nonoichi Elementary School over two days, with events running from late morning into the night.
